Understanding Metabolic Syndrome Or Syndrome X and Its Effects on Your Body

Metabolic Syndrome is also known as Syndrome X or insulin resistance syndrome. Researchers believe that all the conditions or features of the syndrome result from elevated insulin levels caused by insulin resistance. Insulin resistance is a reduced sensitivity in the tissues to the insulin being circulated through the blood; the pancreas, in turn, tries to produce more insulin, which fails to be absorbed by the tissues and muscles so that the levels continue to build up in the blood.

Metabolic Syndrome or Syndrome X is a cluster of medical conditions that include:

* Impaired glucose tolerance
* High blood pressure
* High cholesterol and triglyceride levels; usually the 'good' cholesterol HDL is low
* Upper body, also referred to as central obesity-a waist measuring more than 36-37" for men and more than 32" for women
* Elevated levels of insulin as a result of insulin resistance.

When three or more of these conditions are present together you will be diagnosed with Metabolic Syndrome or Syndrome X.

Two important points to note are:

1. Each of the medical conditions noted above carries its own risk factor for heart disease.

2. The underlying causes of each condition, as well as the overall diagnosis of Metabolic Syndrome or Syndrome X are due to your diet-refined carbohydrates being one of the most dangerous; your lifestyle-leading a very sedentary lifestyle, failure to incorporate exercise in your daily routine, and habits that include smoking; and your genes.

It cannot be over-emphasized that while your hereditary genes play a role in developing the syndrome and Type 2 diabetes, it is only an indicator and not a foregone conclusion that you will develop these conditions. You have the ability to take action to prevent the development of the syndrome or even reverse its effect by making the necessary changes.

And now I invite you to learn more about how you can control or reverse the symptoms of Metabolic Syndrome or Syndrome X naturally by following the steps outlined in the "Diabetes Reversal Report" at http://saygoodbyetodiabetes.com.
